For decades the GNR [National Republican Guard] headquarters at Campo da Vinha, Braga, housed law-enforcement officers and public security forces. Now it has been taken over by concerts, artistic residencies, conferences, film sessions, shops and business ventures in music, fashion and the digital arts. The posters we designed for concerts and other events draw on the idea of occupation: laid out on a blank canvas, they all feature a frame upon which we can find the GNRation logo as well as useful information. The background’s apparent neutrality is broken by the disruptive plasticity that takes over the posters’ central area, whose graphic scheme also relies on a monochromatic principle. Both the frame and the monochrome tie the different materials together, lending a sense of fundamental familiarity that furthers the public affirmation of the GNRation project.
